Tips to transition from school to home
Take time to adjust. Don’t rush.
Take time to deschool, give your child time to decompress from school to home. This may take 3 weeks or 3 months! There is no specific time frame on how long it should take. The longer a child has been in a brick and mortar school the longer you should take to deschool. Any moment can be a teaching/learning experience. Whatever the case may be, you’ll be just fine. Research your curriculum choices without rushing into something. Slow down when needed.
Determine your child's learning style.
Each child learns differently. Know your child's strengths and weaknesses. One curriculum subject may be better for your child than the other. It's okay to use different learning methods.
Take time to breathe.
Don’t drown yourself with planning week after week. Determine what works best for each individual child. If you feel that you need a day to rest, take it!
Don't give in to doubt and fear.
Don’t be in such a hurry to get where you see others in their home school journey. This can cause you to become more overwhelmed. Block out all negativity and #GetYourHomeschoolOn
